Jacob DeRue is an associate attorney supporting the firm’s business litigation and corporate law practice groups. He joined the firm the summer after his first year of law school as a summer associate, then transitioned to a law clerk until passing the Virginia Bar after graduation and becoming an attorney.
Mr. DeRue received his undergraduate degree in Political Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Sociology, summa cum laude, from Thiel College and his law degree from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. DeRue interned for the Honorable Charles J. Siragusa of the Western District of New York. While in law school, Mr. DeRue was a member of the Journal of Law, Economics, and Policy. He also served as the Pro Bono Pledge Coordinator for the George Mason Pro Bono Society, promoting pro bono work for law students. Further, he was a member of the Judges Committee in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and the Vice President of Media Relations for the Scalia Law Trial Advocacy Association.
