Jacob DeRue is an associate attorney who represents community associations across Virginia, advising on governance, rules enforcement, dispute resolution, collections, and litigation. Mr. DeRue also supports the firm’s business litigation and corporate law practice groups, where he assists business owners and entrepreneurs with contract issues, corporate governance, entity creation, corporate compliance, and day-to-day legal needs.
Mr. DeRue received his undergraduate degree in Political Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Sociology, summa cum laude, from Thiel College and his law degree from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. DeRue interned for the Honorable Charles J. Siragusa of the Western District of New York. While in law school, Mr. DeRue was a member of the Journal of Law, Economics, and Policy. He also served as the Pro Bono Pledge Coordinator for the George Mason Pro Bono Society, promoting pro bono work for law students. Further, he was a member of the Judges Committee in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and the Vice President of Media Relations for the Scalia Law Trial Advocacy Association.
