Bob Cox was recently quoted by Agenda (A Publication of The Financial Times) regarding “Agenda: ‘Something Rotten’ — Are Auditors Too Cozy WithBoards?”
“Do your job … but not too well.”
This is the sentiment that allegedly prevailed at PwC, according to claims stemming from ongoinglitigation brought by former employee Mauro Botta, who claims he was fired in 2017 in retaliationfor blowing the whistle about questionable auditing practices. Among them, according to Botta, isthat PwC would pull punches in public company audits in order to maintain a positive relationshipwith clients.
